Can you visually represent the connections?
Yes, I take pics of the documents( that's a tametheweb.com pic by Michael Stephens) I create too; there are many reasons but in a way the pics capture some of the organic feel of information plus serve as a back-up copy, allow for sharing. Also, it's nice to know what came out of the research; visual representations of information/data often help with this. But, I'm a graphic novel fan and became a passionate reader because of comic books. So, I like the visuals.

How do I stay current?

I use googleReader keep up with some of the trend finders in my field.
Perhaps of interest? It's not that exciting of a screenshot because I already read my feeds.

"Blogging has not made this easier... if anything, the idea that a gazillion bloggers and commenters (or even ONE loud one) will seize any opportunity to find fault with your ideas and attempts can dampen one's willingness to be brave. So here's my quarterly reminder to all (me included) that if you're not doing something that someone hates, it's probably mediocre."

Why not create information visuals?

Why not create information visuals? The organization of information and the way of presentation should highlight matters for your consideration. Note-documents must highlight items another researcher may not deem significant. Even if the relevancy could be questionable, why could this be a way to present relevancy? Looking forward to another engaging chat after another long, but enjoyable, day of work, with my fellow information professionals. Creative tension makes one grow, but this doesn't mean you pull the rice.

Here's several. Buy your textbooks a different way; advocate for a better online course experience; doesn't it make sense to understand the rational behind why BlackBoard delivers such a poor online experience? Most other free online course management systems explain their design. Then, there's buying your textbooks? Why should that cost so much?

Remember: above all else don't get kicked in the face.

What do you work between?
Working between heartbeats is not how I'd go about things. Sometimes though my day goes by so fast and information becomes so compressed, we need to decompress and remember it's about the people. That and food: really good food-beer-wine-you know what I mean. Often, my pictures have nothing to do with what I am writing over here. Dr. Encomio, (a roomster as I have taken to naming the people who live with me) the guy in the back, has a picture of a bunny with a pancake on it's head taped to his faculty office door. Which reminds me; I need to take a picture of that. That's Megan in the front (current roomster) & Darlene (guest roomster) in the back.
